I finally did it. I went out and bought a starter deck of Magic. It was a Kor Armory white deck. It's actually pretty darned good as is.

yah, WotC got smart and changed their starters from random 40 cards + 20 lands [or something like that] to pre-builds that work decently while the old 'starter' became known as a tourney deck [or something like that]. I bought several to form the 'cores' of my recent decks.

Aehm... the preconstructed theme decks have been around for QUITE some time ya know... My personal favourite is the blue-red Izzet Gizmometry from the Guildpact (Ravnica block).

Well, I certainly would call the change from prearranged 40 card deck + 20 lands from the pre-Alara blocks to pre arranged 25 card deck + 15 land + 15 randm card booster smart 
P.S. I forgot to mention both of the options are for the same price, but the new decks also feature a rather ungainly package, so you want to buy a special box for them as well.

That's true. Since I don't travel with mine I just throw 'em on one of my shelves for the time being.

Hi Mordel,
i stopped playing and collecting M:tG long ago, but still have a lot of really OLD cards ... interestend in trading some of them against some of your BattleTech Trading Cards ?

Nah... I'm only a curious participant at this point. Haven't gotten to the stage where I'm trying to make uber-decks and probably never will.
But I'll keep your offer in mind should that change.
