I don't know if it's just me, but lately, I've been having a lot of trouble getting the site to load. Long load times abound, and sometimes, I'll even get a "Cannot connect to server" error. As this is the only site this happens on, I do not think the problem is on my end, but then, nobody else has brought it up yet either...

I get them as well, and Karken has noted the same issues.
They seem to be random and I had thought only an early morning issues, ie 3Am to 8AM, but after today and this being my first chance to post, it's kind of weird...

There was an issue with one of the server settings that had to be adjusted to account for a higher load. It's been changed and we should be all set. Was happening on all the sites on the server.

And here I thought it was just me. I'm on dialup, and I had mentioned this to Mordel once before, but because I do have problems with other sites... I thought it was from my ISP. Now however this site loads as fast as the other I mentioned (to Mordel) so, obviously I should have complained a little more

Still having some issues here, though it seems better now than before.
Edit: Specifically, the main page generally has the most issues, and other pages are slow and only partially load. Overall though, I get better effect than I did before.

I think the issue was related to the gallery page on BatteCorps. They allowed non-registered members to post comments. Needless to say some fucker decided to take advantage of this and spam the comment with 400,000+ bogus comments.
I've changed the setting, but they still have their scripts pointed our way trying to enter bogus comments. So it's still a little slow, unfortunately. But hopefully it'll get better.

Turns out our server was being used as a proxy by those wishing to cause trouble. A few configuration settings had to be tweaked and all appears well again... I hope.

Well, I've experienced MUCH better performance since the first settings change. And it hasn't changed with the other things you've mentioned, so I'm guessing I am at the top running for dialup. It is comparable to other forums/php based sites.

A guess a few database settings were tweaked among other things in addition to blocking the use of us as a proxy, so things should be faster now.
