The Steiner variant of the -9CS carries a light engine so the price drops a bit and the loss of a sidetorso would be survivable. But on the other side it is lacking in much needed tonnage now. The armor protection dropped to the 3025 level and C3i (which isn't available in Steiner space anyway) and some (minor) firepower had to be removed.
The A-pods can be useful if some infantry is around but I think some more armor would have been more useful. |

Not a bad way to go with this design. I don't see it as an urban operations-anti-infantry 'mech however. The a-pods seem to be there for emergencies, and getting this 'mech out of the sorts of ambushes it is bound to encounter. |

Unfortunately, ComStar did this one better than Steiner did. Ostscouts aren't really meant for infantry hunting; go get a Locust or Fireball for that. Strip the a-pods for armor and use it as a general scout. The BAP/ECM combo is great, and ER meds are good wepaons. If you want to jump and shot, get double heat sinks. |

Good, but not great.
This thing was obvisously modified with urban and infantry fights in mind. That having been said, why did they go with ER lasers and not pulse lasers? If youre going to be up close and personal, why not get a weapon that works best in that kind of situation?
The A-pods are good to keep infantry at bay, but you only have two of them, kind of a good-thing bad-thing set up.
The armor is almost a joke. Even if it is FF, Ive know Locusts and Hussars with more protection than this thing. |

This mech has good speed with a great jump ,However the armour is quite thin though the ECM offsets that some what. The beagle probe TAG combination is good for calling down fire on hidden units. The weapon load is good but not great ,the A-pods can help deal with swarming infantry. |
