I like his mech because it performs excellently at the function it was designed for. It is not meant as a one-to-one combatant, but rather a team player like wolves. Pairs or trios are dangerous to your mediums and heavys, and a star can drop an Atlas if used properly. Switch to FF armor, and that will help the armor porblem a little.

Its a good mech, but in a clan on clan match. Too often someone has a pulse which will knife through your armour like it was butter.
It can overheat but if your running that much you should be able to buy a round or so to cool for a bit. Can legitimately threaten Inner Sphere Assault mechs, but even Clan Light mechs can destroy this without much trouble if they're loaded for the right fight.
Really depends on the situation.

Very good concept, but only mediocre execution. Expect to see high casualty rates among Pack Hunter pilots, especially if the enemy uses pulse lasers. However, you can expect it to probably give as good as it gets.

I always liked the Pack Hunter. Good speed and good jump should keep it at long range. The ER PPC is a good weapon, with fine range and damage. That it's the only weapon is some concern, but it shouldn't be a problem if you use it right. Switch to FF armor if you can, that'll keep it alive longer. It should have it already. Watch out for enemies with ER PPCs, CERLLs, and, to a lesser degree, LRMs. Weak armor holds it back from a 5, but otherwise very good.
