Overview:
Called upon to produce an effective light 'Mech for city-fighting, Orguss Industries replied
with the Urban-Mech. Cheap to produce, but potent in its assigned duties, the 'Mech was
manufactured in large numbers, many of which have survived into the present era. Now common
in city garrisons and defense units, the UrbanMech continues as an effective battle weapon.
Capabilities:
At 30 tons, the UrbanMech is only slightly heavier than Wasp and Stinger scout 'Mechs, and
so its slow speed seemed a distinct liability. It was designed for city combat, however, an
environment that severely limits most other 'Mechs. The 'Mech's Durallex Heavy armor
provides considerable protection, and its low, stocky profile makes it a difficult target.
On some models, Orguss Industries followed an unorthodox, armless design. While this
further streamlined the machine's profile, it handicapped the UrbanMech in other ways. The
'Mech was obviously unable to defend itself in hand-to-hand combat, and damage that would
normally have struck the 'Mech's arms was transferred directly to the torso. Thus, armless
UrbanMechs were usually deployed where the likelihood of meeting enemy 'Mechs was small.
The Imperator-B Class 10 autocannon is the UrbanMech's primary weapon. With its low heat
buildup and reliable design, the weapon suited the UrbanMechs hit-and-run fighting style.
The light laser that supports the Imperator is only marginally effective, but is useful in
persuading hostile infantry to keep their heads down.
Variants
As noted above, the major variant of the UrbanMech is the armless version. The
disadvantages of this design proved fatal, and so very few have survived to the present.
House Liao has a few UMs with Imperator-Zeta Class 20 autocannon, but the weapon's heat and
mass have kept the 'Mech from gaining any great popularity.

An Urbie with an AC/20. This is a really dangerous city-fighter but the 2ton-reduction of armor is a real problem. The 5 shots of ammo doesn´t hamper it because after 5 turns in combat it would be dead anyway. But in this 5 turns it would have hurt the enemy a lot.

This variation on classic theme has only a few advantages. AC/20 is the most powerful weapon in play until the UAC appears, it still jumps and you may notice the mistake you make when you try to get to knife-fighting range too late. Aside from that I think that vee may do the same work for much less money...

Yeah...
A/C 20 good...
11th heat sink bad...
scrap the 11th heat sink, trade the SL up to a ML and use the 1/2 ton for armor.
5 shots with the A/C is bad but in a city environment can be dealt with especially with a ML matching the AC for range. Shoot both every turn building movement heat only and when you either run out of ammo or desperately need to cool down to prevent blowing up the last round or losing 1/2 of your movement capability, jump away and go for reload.

Killing the extra heatsink for one more ton of armor will give this little monster a tremendous edge.
The ammo is pathetic but with such pathetic armor as well, you won't last long anyway after a few rounds.
The big AC is also perfect for shredding assaults that might normally laugh off at the regular Thrashcan tenner cannon. A twenty isn't funny at all.

A poor sister to the standard Urbie and a suicide ride. With the armor of a standard Urbie you at least can take a few good hits while you take a few turns of shooting before you eject. But with the armor stripped for the bigger gun, count on only getting just one shot before you get flattened.
But since Liaos are kind of into being Martyrs, maybe this model works for them.
