Overview:
    It was not until the beginning of the 2500s that the design of the reconnaissance 'Mechs
    slowly changed. Until now, engineers have had very limited options to strike a good balance
    between speed, armor, and equipment. The development of the Locust was an important step at
    this point. However, its production started relatively slowly. During this time, a team of
    scientists and engineers remembered a machine that had already been classified as almost
    obsolete: the MI-TE-X Mite. Much has never been known about the machine. Plans show that a
    certain Dr. Ruger was responsible for the design as chief engineer. The mite had a short but
    brilliant career as a classic scout. Presumably, many elements later came into play in the
    development of the Locust. The team of scientists developed an improved prototype using one
    example. Although the chassis of the old machine remained, all other components were set to
    modern standards (cockpit, engine, etc.). New on the MI-TE-X2 was the use of ferro armor and
    the installation of a reconnaissance probe. Due to the new armor, the protection could be
    improved by several degrees. Speed ??and armament remained the same. Since the Locust still
    had a higher speed than the Mite, was cheaper and was also already in production, the
    improvement could not prevail.
