    BZK-L3 Hollander LAM is a diploma work of Dipl. Ing. Julius Schmidt submitted as a study on
    blending of current technologies with extinct equipment to Coventry Technological Institute
    of Engineering. Built as a proof of a concept the Hollander LAM sacrifices raw land mobility
    for full LAM capability that would allow it to relocate rapidly via Land-Air Mech mode,
    allowing it to take previously unreachable sniping positions and pull back faster than ever
    and even return quickly to refill it's limited ammo bin. Schmidt argued that Hollander II
    chassis would probably handle the heavy LAM equipment better, but the chassis of the
    standard BZK-F3, built from sturdier materials, is still capable of supporting the LAM
    landing gear and avionics. In addition to weaker reactor the BZK-L3 has to use smaller
    cockpit to make room for additional equipment and the 'Mech would have to use imported clan
    gauss rifle as local models are too heavy for the chassis until Lyran industry will be able
    to replicate the much more refined capacitors used on clan models. The hardest part of the
    project was actually to make something as un-aerodynamic as the Hollander fly. The solution
    is a off-centre fuselage with gauss rifle located just off the centre of mass to the right
    with the remaining equipment balancing it further left. Whole weapon and cockpit are linked
    with each other making the pilot to aim with cockpit toward the target no matter which LAM
    mode  is the 'Mech using. It somewhat limits weapon traverse, but the 'Mech can compensate
    with torso rotation. Firing the weapon and probably most other things would be quite
    uncomfortable for the pilot due to the cockpit being firmly joined with the chassis, but
    Hollander LAM has never been intended for production or combat anyway, so the drawbacks were
    deemed acceptable.
