Overview:
During the Succession Wars, the need for BattleMechs grew so dire that the infamous Quikshel
Corporation attempted to enter the BattleMech market, aiming at the same lowest-bidder
militia market as many of their other entries. The result is functionally an automated
version of their flagship Scorpion tank perched atop a modified Griffon leg
assembly (the only such assembly that Quikshel could secure production rights for), and is
widely considered among the worst BattleMechs ever produced.

    This, is the WS-1L Weasel.

Capabilities:
The Weasel is, being effectively a Scorpion light tank on legs, armed with the
same turreted Deleon 5 light autocannon and 20mm Gatling Gun in the hull. The original
vehicle drivetrain and control interfaces and a non-trivial amount of armor (particularly in
the turret, as several structural members had to be thinned or deleted to accommodate the
additional automation) were removed to accommodate the environmental sealing and a
BattleMech grade single man cockpit in what was once the main fighting compartment. The
addition of the legs to the design increased the mass of the unit by ten tons (between the
legs themselves and the necessary changes elsewhere), resulting in a slower top speed
despite a slightly larger engine. The original sensor and communications suite were
retained, in spite of their poor capability by BattleMech standards, and a total of five
tons of armor protects the unit from fire.

In short, the Weasel's sole selling point is that as an ICE powered design, it does
not compete with more capable equipment for precious fusion engines.

The WS-1L possesses the Poor Communications, Poor Sensors, No/Minimal Arms, Poor
Worksmanship, and Bad Reputation Design Quirks.
