    Piloted by Master Sergeant of the SLDF Marine Corps Robert 'Gunney' Mkembe, the main trainer
    of battlemech pilots on Carver V for CAAN regiments. As a graduate of the Gunslinger program
    and highest ranked non-commissioned officer in the CAAN regiments, Master Sergeant Mkembe
    was allowed to order a customized variant of a mech of his choice for personal use. 'Gunney'
    Mkembe's request for an endo-steel framed battlemech was authorized, and further work was
    done on the machine from there. CASE was installed to protect the ammunition feeding a trio
    of Streak SRM 2 launchers mounted to replace the original SRM6 of the Royal Warhammer.
    Dropping the machine guns and ammunition and replacing all the lasers, Mkembe's customized
    Warhammer instead carried a pair of small and medium pulse lasers, providing more damage at
    close range and still giving an anti-infantry option. 11 and a half tons of standard armor
    provided reasonable protection, and seventeen double heatsinks cooled the mech. The only
    original weapons were the pair of PPC's in the arms. The name of the mech, 'Gunny' comes
    from a rather unfortunate private misspelling the nickname of the pilot when first painting
    the battlemech. Despite Mkembe's best efforts, the name of the machine would stick.
    'Gunny' would survive the Amaris Civil War and be taken along with the Exodus fleet to clan
    space - however the original pilot would not. Major Sergeant Mkembe was killed in action on
    Carver V in 2773 when an air raid on Quantico breached the perimeter. Aerospace fighters
    strafed his barracks, killing him along with several other mechwarriors.
