    A new omnimech intended by the Steel Vipers to counter the wide amount of Summoners in Jade
    Falcon service, and the slow introduction of new mechs into the toumans of the Invading
    Clans along with Inner Sphere improvements. The Flying Serpent acquired the nickname
    'Rattlesnake' from its early combat tests in 3059. These early models had a notable noise
    made by the integrated jump jets, a strange rattle that resulted from a major design issue
    with the thrust vectoring nozzles. While mostly solved in the final production models, there
    is still an audible and distinctive noise made whenever it jumps. Featuring an 86 kilometer
    top speed courtesy of the New Kent Type 325 XL Fusion Engine it shares with the Crossbow,
    and a jump range of 150 meters, the Flying Serpent has a pod space of 24 tons, ten and a
    half tons of ferro-fibrous armor, and an endo steel frame. While certainly an improvement on
    the venerable Summoner, the Flying Serpent shares design elements with earlier Steel Viper
    omnimechs and previous generation designs, such as a focus on arm mounted weaponry, cramped
    torso space, and difficulties in integrating advanced electronics even with pods.

    The C variant incorporates heavy laser technology. Mounting twin LRM 15's, two Streak
    SRM-6's and a pair of heavy medium lasers, all in the arms. Four tons of LRM and two tons of
    Streak SRM ammunition feed the launchers. Three additional heat sinks help manage the heat
