    When D&K Creation Studios successfully created a command platform in the Assault chassis
    Cantata, they knew they had to capitalize on creating in house units that could easily
    utilize the C3 Master system in the chassis. In this regard, their BattleMech Engineering
    teams came up with multiple designs, with the Hotline being one of them.
    More importantly, the Hotline was their take on creating a relatively cheap and efficient
    Brawler that utilizes a C3 Slave system, while still retaining some of the old standbys of
    D&K Creation Studios.

    Built upon a 55 ton chassis, the Hotline was first and foremost expected to be a line unit
    expected to capitalize upon the capabilities of the Cantata while still keeping an
    acceptable ratio of cost to effectiveness compared to its much larger cousin.
    To do this, it was first decided to use a standard rated 275 Fusion engine would allow it to
    easily keep up with many contemporary 'Mechs of its weight class. Furthermore, its five
    standard jump lets allow it to jump 150 meters and maneuver as needed in the thick of
    battle. For further protection, 11.5 tons of standard armor was decided upon to keep the
    'Mech very well protected. To save the weight needed for its weaponry loadout, an Endo-Steel
    structure was chosen as the weight saving material for use.
    For its primary armament, it was decided that a Snub Nose PPC, mounted in the Left Torso,
    would be the main long range armament, allowing the 'Mech to deal damage at acceptable
    ranges as it closed in. To back up this weapon, a Sword was created as its primary close
    range armament, slotted in the Left Arm to allow for ease of repair.
    For a backup weaponry system, it was decided that three standard Medium Lasers, two mounted
    on the Right Arm and one mounted in the Right Torso, as well as a single Small Pulse Laser
    mounted in the head, were enough to allow the mech to both supplement the long range damage
    of the PPC as well as work as good back up weaponry should the 'Mech start to suffer battle
    Furthermore, it was decided to mount the C3 Slave system in the right torso along with the
    fifth jump jet and the third Medium Laser, as the mech is further protected by a Center
    Torso mounted Laser Anti-Missile System.
    Finally, to keep the 'Mech cool it was decided that 11 Double Heat Sinks was needed to allow
    its weaponry to continuously fire when available.
