Overview:
    In 2775 as Aleksandr Kerensky's forces were tightening the noose around the Amaris Empire,
    weapons development became increasingly frantic in hopes of finding a "miracle weapon" to
    turn the tides of the war. The most well known of these is the Matar, commonly referred to
    as "Amaris' Folly", an attempt to create a BattleMech able to withstand an entire company.
    Carrying devastating firepower and counters to all perceived threats, the Matar was
    unfortunately doomed to never see production when its leg actuators proved incapable of
    moving the massive machine. After Amaris' execution of the design staff for "treasonous
    incompetence", the project was cancelled. The project lead, Stefan Amaris' cousin Rifkin
    Amaris, attempted to take his work into exile, and was apprehended by Kerensky's troops in
    an attempt to flee Terra.[1]
    
    Even though the Matar has earned a reputation as a dead-end project instigated by a madman's
    dying regime (and rightfully so), the Matar would return via Clan Wolverine.

Capabilities:
    By lowering the tonnage form the unattainable 110 tons, Clan Wolverine scientists were able
    to lighten the load on the battlemech's leg actuators.  Further they installed a larger
    extra light engine to increase it's top speed to 54KPH.
    Weapons load out was similarly changed.  The Gauss rifles were dropped for the new HAG 20s,
    recently acquired from Clan Diamond Shark.  The Large Pulse Lasers were retained, but an
    additional Extended Range Large Laser was added as was a second Medium Pulse Laser.  This
    new arrangement give the warrior the ability to lay down devastating fowerpower as long as
    he keeps an eye on his heat gauge.

Deployment:
    So far three prototypes have been built and deployed.  Critics argue that the expensive HAGs
    could be replaced with standard gauss rifles and the Large pulse lasers could be downgraded
    to ER Large Lasers to enhance longevity on the battlefield.

Variants:
    The only proposed variant, the 3CWC, switches the loadout to 4 Extended Range Large Lasers
    backed up by 2 standard Gauss Rifles.  An active probe allows for scanning of surrounding
    terrain, but even with the addition of 3 more double heat sinks this variant still runs hot.
