Overview:
The Centurion CN9-K was originally a refit done by the Draconis Combine to CN9-A mechs that
were salvaged from House Davion in the Third Succession War. The K variant was first
designated in 3023, being developed alongside the Dragon DRG-1G, and thus using many similar
parts, including the communications system so that the mech could more fluidly be integrated
into DCMS formations. The engine was upgraded to a Magna 250 from relatively defunct TBT-7K
production lines to make it move at a similar pace to the Dragon, to which this CN9-K was
    considered a companion mech.

The refit program was later put on hold to finish the production of the DRG-1G, considered
to be a much more worthy project as a symbol of Combine engineering, in contrast to the
Centurion which was stained by its strong association with the AFFS. And it would have
remained sidelined if not for the Fourth Succession War. Locked back in combat with House
Davion meant that Centurions were regularly available as salvage opportunities, and with the
Draconis Combine stretched thin on both the Lyran and FedSuns fronts, the CN9-K became an
attractive option as an alternative to the Dragon as pride had to become second to
necessity, as well as a roughly 20% price differential which made it more affordable to
    field.

The CN9-K gained some popularity with DCMS forces on the Lyran front due to the shame of
using an enemy's weapon against them being somewhat abated by distance and therefore
    perceived seperation from the FedSuns.
