Very good combination of mobility, firepower, armor and heatsinks. In urban areas it will give any enemy a bad day. Out in the open it´s not defenseless but less useful so keep it in the city or in woodlands. The single LRM-5 was fun every time I had a Grasshopper in the field. A pling here and a pling there if the enemy got out of medium laser range. |

"Fire at will"
The Grasshopper has little problems with heat buildup and it's highly mobile and well armored on all sides. Stronger than average rear armor is well explained in fluff. As a 'Mech that is meant to enter enemy formations and survive it must expect to be hit with heavy weapons. The weapons are light, but the laser battery an be handled with ease and LRMs allow it at least to fight back and harass the enemy. Missiles do not produce that much heat so you can use them while engaged in melee on secondary targets or with some kind of special ammo. The lasers themselves can cause heavy damage, but the range is limited, so the GHR pilot should pay attention to terrain and seek cover when the enemy is able to snipe against him. This is a tough machine that can cause a lot of damage if used properly. LRM fire support lances must be well protected if there is a Grasshopper (or more!) on board. |

I am not usually a big fan of bugs, but the Grasshopper is a heavy 'Mech that aims to please! For the longest time, one of these was my personal ride, and it is a dangerous and beastly brawler beloved by 'Mechs across the Sphere and beyond. It's cheap, and though it doesn't look dangerous, the firepower contained within the Grasshopper is quite superb!
There's only one thing about this 'Mech that I never understood, and don't care for: Why an LRM/5? Yes, it does give you good range. But very paltry firepower. I would have preferred an AC/2 at least. If you want to be annoying, an AC/2 lets you be VERY annoying. The good news is that the space and placement is perfect to replace it with an SRM/4 and increase your ability to whoop on people up close even better. Otherwise, maybe load some Thunder rounds into it, if you're using this in a Level 2 game. In Level 1 play, go for the PPC/MLAS variant from the RS:Upgrades, or switch the missile launcher.
My ten cents anyway. Good all around, save for the one mystery weapon. |

A dangerous infighter, the JJs really lend this big 70 tonner some moves rarely seen for a mech of this tonnage.
The ridiculous amount of heatsinks mean it cant just stop firing ! |

The best tactical heavy on the field. Built for a specific purpose which it excells at. More armour than the Cyclops and excellent manouverability allow it to sneak up behind any enemy and pierce the waifer thin rear armour. Such a deadly mech in 3025, loses efficiency later on but that does not affect it here. |
