Overview:
The Guillotine -4P2/-3P was Ravensbourne Specialist Engineering's second mass production
model. CEO of the period, Gertrude Clausewitz, decided the Guillotine was the best option
for the next step in scaling up their Loxley facility's capabilities. The fact that the
proposed variant was pitched as the GLT-4P2 (not unlike the HBK-4P2 also in production) is
thought to be a major factor in the CEO's decision. Gertrude declared that it was a sign of
good fortune for the mass production models to have "conceptual resonance" and referring to
    them as the "eldest siblings".

In actuality, the -4P2 was much more closely related to the -3N than the -4P. RSE's
marketing and engineering departments pushed hard to have RSE's first Guillotine designated
the -3P to create a sense of continuity from the Star League era Lostech variant, true to
RSE's brand image of expertise with Lostech (the "-3" of the Lostech variant and the "P" for
carrying a PPC). Gertrude couldn't be budged, and the -4P designation stuck until the early
31st century when Gertrude was eventually succeeded by her daughter. The designation was
changed officially as part of RSE spinning off "Promethean Armouries" as a dedicated
    battlemech manufacturing subsidiary.

Production of Guillotines meant that the other mass production lines also proposed during
the same board meeting (Archer and Jenner primarily, but plans for Commando and Locust were
also presented) were somewhat delayed. Long term success of the Guillotine did lead to the
Loxley campus staged expansions to encompass additional manufacturing lines.

Like with the HBK-4P2, RSA was able to edge out their competition through having not only
preserved and maintained their ability to produce and work with endosteel during the
Succession Wars but develop much more advanced methods of working with endosteel, comparable
to a kind of 3D printing. Unfortunately, it would be nearly a century before their endosteel
production would meet volume targets that would allow them to bid on major contracts.

The use of endosteel in their mechs' construction was never divulged to the general public
as a security measure to protect RSE facilities and intellectual property. This came at the
cost of detractors claiming that RSE exaggerated their products' performance. RSE would be
vindicated time and again by independent testing, but the secrecy around their technology
and production methods created a mystique that intrigued mech nerds thereafter. Once use of
endosteel became commonplace again RSE started boasting their proprietary endosteel alloy,
    forge technology and construction methods.

Capabilities:
RSE's GLT-4P2/-3P boasted better cooling and more armour than it's venerable -4P
predecessor. It didn't do anything particularly special or different compared to the -4P, it
just did the same things slightly better and made the pilot a little more comfortable.

Variants:
The -4P2/-3P would eventually be succeeded by the -3P2 once RSE had figured out their own
double heat sink production line. By this point RSE's battlemech production was under the
Promethean Armouries sub-brand but parts production, endosteel fabrication, lostech repairs
and other niche services remained under the Ravensbourne Specialist Engineering label.
