I always liked Orions, so this IIC version is like a godsend. It had upgraded armor, and better weaponry to complement the already good design. Do not pair up the Large Lasers or you will have a heat problem. I use it's Lrms, Gauss Rifle, and Large Lasers for sniping, but I always like to wade into the fray when they get to close.

A pretty faithful IIC version of an old goodie.
Orions always struck me as being straightforward, no flashy stuff, assault mechs. And this stays nicely in line with that philosophy.
The EndoSteel and FF armor are logical upgrades, and the lack of an XL engine is more of a boon than a hinderance, when you look at the fact that this mech is carrying quite a bit of ammo in its toros. CASE not withstanding.
The dozen DHS on this model makes me a bit edgy, but considering the fact that the lasers are really the only high heat weapons on this mech, a bit of fire discipline will keep that under controll.
The weapons load is geared primarily for long range, stand off battles. The lasers, gauss rifle, and LRMs share nearly identical range profiles, letting you deal out lots of damage before needing to worry about in-close reprisals.
About my only problem with the mech is lack of a second close in weapon. The SRMs, while effective, need something else to compliment them. As it stands, this mech is forced to use the SRMs and at least one high heat weapon once the fighting gets personal.
A good mech in any assault star, and even in some defensive stars as well. Park it at range, pick a target, and wear your target down. Try to avoid close range combat, but dont be affraid to wade in once the fighting drifts towards this mech.

Built as a symbol to Karensky, this mech has firepower matching alot of IS Assault mechs, it has the best long range punch of any of the second line heavies in my opinion. Useful for sitting back and strafing enemy. Closing within a few hexes is useful as well, you can bring the SRM into play without losing effectiveness on the gauss and the LRM's (which have no minimum anyway).
Heat is the only really factor and pairing the ER's together is not advised. A single ER and all secondary weapons is a viable option, only bringing the other laser online when things are desperate or when in need of that extra punch.
All in all, my favorite IIC of them all.

A bit slow for a clan heavy 'mech, but on the upside it does not carry an XL engine. The long-range punch is VERY nice, and the ammo loads are good too. Eighteen rounds of LRM twenty ammo means you can fire at will if resupply isn't a problem. The armor is nice and thick too. All in all, one of the best second-line 'mechs around.
