Overview:
    The Venerable MAD-3R Marauder has seen wide use throughout the Succession Wars. One of the
    most common problems Technicians faced as War continued was maintenance of the Whirlwind
    Autocannon system as well as occasional Munitions shortages. While there are a wide variety
    of variants to resolve this, one that has proven more popular among Mercenaries has been
    switching the Autocannon for four additional Medium Lasers and supporting Heatsinks. While a
    fair degree of downtime is required for the work, overall the changes are relatively
    inexpensive and the improvement to close quarter combat and Heat management pay dividends in
    combat.

Capabilities:
    Replacing the Whirlwind Class 5 Autocannon and Ammo with 4 additional Medium Lasers, 4
    Heatsinks and 1 ton of armour significantly improves it?s ability to engage at close range.
    The 20 Heatsinks allow pilots to maintain high levels of fire with either the 2 PPCs or the
    6 Lasers.

Deployment:
    While a popular variant across most inner Sphere Houses it does prove popular among
    Mercenaries and operators further out in the Periphery where Ammunition supply is less
    regular.

Variants:
    While the design itself is a Variant there are occasional sub-variants. Most involve minor
    redistribution of the Armour. There are also those who add an Additional Medium Laser in the
    Centre Torso and those who add an additional Heatsink.

Notable MechWarriors:
    Captain Scott MacKenzie along with his Sister Tegan and Cousin Cara of the Mercenary company
    MacKenzie's Marauders field a full Lance of four of these Marauders . Their close assault
    capabilities played a pivotal role in liberating their Homeworld of Waunakee from a Kuritan
    Deep raid in 3019.
