Overview:
"Is it a LAM? Is it a plane? No! It's a Charger!" recited the hilarious, tongue-in-cheek
advert playing at the Promethean Armouries booth at the 3095 Solaris Military Expo. The
CRG-3D was an inside joke that evolved into a halo mech, "An 80 ton wrecking ball that flies
better than a mech half it's weight!"

The -3D's life began as a skunkworks project that Erika Inōe and a handful of her peers
drew up to present to then CEO Conrad Clausewitz as a birthday present. When they handed him
the demonstration miniature he took such a liking to it that he greenlit the design for
    actual production.

PA's -3D variants are likely the most expensive Chargers ever put into production, but when
offered as a "Built-to-Order" catalogue item the initial outlay on PA's part wasn't an
over-commitment. PA never intended widespread adoption so the design spent it's existence as
one of their specialty products. Slow and steady 3D-printing of endosteel structure was PA's
primary advantage. PA's electronics subsidiary licensed the Angel ECM design for production
at their own facility. Everything else was purchased from their usual partners.

When notable Solaris jock, Ariston Peri, commissioned a bespoke variant of the -3D from
Promethean Armouries some of the team who worked on it got ideas that could be implemented
into a new -3D variant. The omega entered production in 3099, three years after the
original. The original was then re-designated the "alpha".

In an unfortunate turn of events Ariston died in a motorcycle accident days before receiving
the bespoke Charger. The mech went on to be auctioned by Ariston's estate, fetching the
highest price ever payed for an individual Promethean Armouries machine.

Capabilities:
The most agile assault mech in the Inner Sphere, or at least that's what Promethean
Armouries claim. The omega variant lost a little mobility in downgrading to standard jump
jets but 150m range was still nothing to sneeze at.

The -3Dω has enough mobility and armour to get into the opfor's face and a six ton axe. Two
torso lasers were upgraded to snub PPCs. The C3 and ECM of the alpha is sacrificed to
facilitate the brutal spectacle that comes from a highly mobile assault mech with an axe.

Both variants are victim to the curse of machines at the highest levels of performance:
frequent, inconvenient maintenance and an array of high-stress parts to monitor that can
only be replaced through PA. While PA's replacement parts are very affordable, production
takes longer than other manufacturers and delivery can be tedious. In most cases the same
parts from older model Chargers can fit right in but as they are not designed to the same
tolerances as as the -3D versions they either wear out much quicker and/or end up failing
catastrophically under stresses they weren't designed for.

Variants:
Promethean Armouries never intended to offer another variant of the -3D but were inspired by
a bespoke machine requested by a Solaris arena pilot, thus the -3Dω. Superficially, the two
variants are easy enough to tell apart. The more meaningful difference lives under the skin.

During the development process it was found that the -3Dα's endo-composite structure would
be unsuitable for the -3Dω. Management were not pleased as this necessitated an expensive
deviation from the intended plan of the Alpha and Omega sharing one endo-composite
architecture. The Omega project was almost cancelled but PA's wunderkind, Erika Inōe,
stepped away from another project she was working on at the time to spearhead developing a
modular architecture using stress maps of the testbeds' architecture. She had a special
insight into this after serving as the lead engineer on the -3Dα.
