Overview:
A revitalization project launched by VEST in the Solarian recovery period after the ravages
of the Jihad, the Vining team decided to make the most of a bad situation and re-tool a
heavily damaged plant previously used for production of the Volkh to instead refit
salvaged Uziel frames into a new Battlemech with a heavy emphasis on pilot
survivability. Taking more than a few cues from the Slagmaiden previewed several
years earlier by Arc-Royal, VEST saw the opportunity to beat them to market with a design
featuring Vining's signature technologies that were still in production.

Capabilities:
Starting with Uziel frames that were purchased in bulk, along with technology
salvaged from downed Blakist mechs, the Eclipse is designed to take advantage of both
surprising boosts of speed and the exceptional close range capabilities of its Snub-Nose
PPCs to pick apart enemy combatants in urban and other dense environments, while using its
Shield for additional protection. Once its foes armor has been sufficiently breached, the
Eclipse can move in to take advantage with the Streak SRM 4 mounted in the head, as
well as bashing with the shield.

The primary addition to the design is the dubiously sourced Actuator Enhancement found in
the right arm, enhancing the aim of the main PPCs. Given the clear 'inspiration' taken from
the Slagmaiden, some have been left wondering if a leak from Arc-Royal was behind the
rapid development of the Eclipse, but given Vining's status as the primary industrial
power on Solaris in the wake of the Blakist attacks, Xolaran authorities seem to not put
investigation of these claims at the top of their priorities.

VEST also looked to capitalize on the psychological toll taken by the Word on Solarian
pilots, by emphasizing the ability of the mech to keep the pilot safe in the Torso Mounted
cockpit, and to stay on its feet with the compact Gyro. The CASE II system mounted in the
head ensure that even if the small ammunition bin above them fails, the pilot can still
    expect to fight another day.

All of these advances did come at a few costs; the original GM 300 XL remains, and although
VESTs Ferro-Fibrous armor was still in relatively easy supply the 'Mech is only able to
mount 8 tons of it. This initially seems like a middling amount, but the survivability added
by the shield and relocated cockpit were deemed to make up for the loss of total armor.

Deployment:
The primary model of the Eclipse has been making limited appearances in the Factory
and the Jungle, with VEST seeming only contracting it in arena that fit the hit-and-fade
tactics the chassis was built for. However, results have been positive when pilots maneuver
the 'Mech effectively. Lighter designs tend to fold quickly to the large Particle Projectors
on the arms, and heavier units can be out-flanked with careful use of the Supercharger. Even
when the mech has been downed the design is currently sporting a 100% pilot survivability
rating, and on the several occasions the SRM ammo has cooked off in combat the crowd has
responded positively to the mech shrugging off the blow and charging back in, often still
flaming from the 'head' as it does so.

Variants:
In response to the recent procurement requests from the RAF, VEST developed an anti-infantry
and anti-vehicle variant in the ECL-9-V by removing the Streak guidance system from the SRM
4 and adding a small X-Pulse laser to the head. The SRM system is now able to load Inferno
munitions to enhance is abilities in this role.

A more intensive refit to the Eclipse came in the ECL-10-H. Pushing the advantages of
the AES further, the twin PPCs have been replaced by a capacitor-enhanced Heavy model
salvaged from destroyed Blakist units. This allows the full damage of the twin cannons to be
more reliably placed into a single location. The standard SRM of the 9-V is kept along with
its ability to load alternate munitions, and the shield is upgraded to a Medium-class to
allow the unit to snipe more safely.
