Overview:
    Originally designed to use an experimental "Super Heavy Grade Triple Strength Myomer", there
    were issues with its endurance and thus the project was forced to pivot.  It was found that
    even without the SHGTSM, the Persephone’s sheer mass and additional arm was enough to
    threaten any mech within its reach.  This led to the decision to improve its long range
    abilities as the 375 XL engine let it engage any target within its minimum firing distance.
    
    
    This led to the projects difficulty with weight management.  Improvements were being made to
    nearly all weapon systems but the increased weight was causing a remarkable drop in speed,
    losing the threat range of its arms. Even after the removal of both TSEMP cannons, it was
    only after securing access to clan-grade missile systems that the issue was resolved.  This
    new design removed issues with a minimum firing range and saved enough weight that 2
    additional tons of armor were added to reinforce the arms and legs of the mech.
    
    The final changes to the Persephone were meant to address issues found in field reports of
    the Poseidon.  Two small lasers were added to the underside of the torso to allow for
    hitting infantry targets hiding between its legs. The addition of a Mechwarrior Aquatic
    Survival System was made standard after multiple issues with pilots believing the Poseidon
    was equipped for underwater missions. This was complimented with adjustments to missile
    systems to be compatible with specialized torpedos.

Capabilities:
    The Persephone’s most prominent weapons, “Death’s Eye”, are twin ER Heavy Lasers
    mounted next to its Search Light.  These are employed alongside dual LRM 20  and enough heat
    sinks to allow for continuous, long-range, mobile firepower.  While stationary it can also
    add two chest mounted LRM 5.  This hail of 50 missiles and punch of two powerful lasers let
    the mech threaten even assault class targets.
    
    To ward off smaller threats, each of the Persephone’s three legs are equipped with an SRM
    6, ER Medium Laser, and 2 anti personnel pods, the fire power of some light Mechs. Two Small
    Laser are also attached to its central torso to help hit anyone attempting to scale the
    tripod.  The most notable change is the mechs replacement of its two ER PPC with another
    fully actuated arm. This addition has proven useful is warding off quicker mechs attempting
    to scale the Persephone or hide within its minimum range.

Variants:
    PSD-Z2 “Mynth” - created to employ an experimental “Super Heavy Grade Triple Strength
    Myomer” it was meant to reach walking speeds of 43 km/hr and sprinting speeds of 65 km/hr.
    It would be able to perform field salvage operations and be the first purpose-built melee
    super heavy mech.  However the prototype technology was not ready for production and showed
    issues with the myomer maintaining its function under high temperatures needed to catalyze
    its TSM properties. Thus this mode only saw 5 prototypes made before it was discontinued in
    favor of the Z3.
