Overview:
    Produced by Defiance Industries as a lower-cost alternative to their extravagant BNC-12E
    Banshee after that machine failed to generate the desired sales due primarily to its
    outrageous cost, the BNC-13E is a marginally more conservative modernization of the classic
    BNC-3E. The most immediately noticeable change between the 12E and the 13E is the removal of
    all Clan-spec equipment from the design. This includes the XL Fusion Engine, which the 13E
    exchanges for an Inner Sphere-grade equivalent, making the 13E more susceptible to major
    side torso damage compared to its older counterpart, but allows the 13E to maintain the
    brisk-for-its-tonnage 64 kph maximum sustained speed. The lack of Clan-level tech also means
    that the 12E's array of Clan-grade lasers is gone, although to compensate somewhat for this
    loss of offensive capability the 12E's Snub-Nose PPC has been upgraded to a Defiance 980
    Heavy PPC capable of delivering punishing damage roughly equivalent to a Clan-grade ER PPC.
    The Defiance Annihilator Improved Heavy Gauss Rifle remains in place, albeit with one ton
    fewer reloads, and now protected by Inner Sphere-grade rather than Clan-grade CASE II. Also
    now missing is the Supercharger, although the MASC system remains in place, and, of course,
    the Clan-spec laser AMS from Baal Defense Solutions is also now absent.
    
    Overall the BNC-13E Banshee is still a capable machine in its own right, but its
    value-for-money proposition still leaves much to be desired, especially when compared to the
    Kwangjong-ni plant's flagship BNC-12S. Nevertheless, high design commonality with the 12S
    and 12E models kept development costs for the 13E low enough that the modest sales it has
    managed to generate have been enough to turn a profit for Defiance on the design. As such,
    virtually all of the assembly lines originally constructed for the BNC-12E have been
    converted to produce the 13E instead, with a partial line for the 12E still being maintained
    to modify 13E chassis mid-production into the 12E variant for the few buyers still showing
    interest in that design.
