The C3 variant of the -7M isn't that bad.
It too looses 2 points of armor but the thin skin of the Spider had never bothered me.
For this dedicated backbiter the change from a pulse to a standard laser isn't that good but it can make excellent use of its C3-slave every time it jumps into an enemies rear. But still DHS would have been a must here for the Spider has to jump, always! |

Its a spider that wants to get close to its enemies due to C3. The medium pulse is nice to kill infantry with but I'd prefer the old two mediums instead.
The armour is very nice and it jumps a long way so you can get away with some stupid things in a city and other rough areas. Just remember that your a light mech and despite your C3 setup, stay away from anything heavier than you. |

Less armor combined with stronger temptation to close with the enemy in order to spot, means the pilot is more likely to make a stupid mistake with this 'mech, and also less likely to survive it.
It's easily fixed however; downgrade the pulse laser to a standard laser and beef up the armor by a ton, and you have a tougher 'mech than the original Spider.

What did they do to this design?!? A spider used to be a good city fighter, and now its a glorified spotter. THe weapons wont even let it defend itself effectively. This mech is almost totally dependant on its C3 mates for help. And if it blunders into an ECM bubble, this mech is hash. |

The speed and jump are good the armour is much to thin.The weapon load is weak coupled with the thin armour limits the value of the C3 link |
