Overview:
Named after the assistants to a Matador - an obvious dig at the Aurigan Coalition's chief
enemy until the 3030s - the Picador is the heavy vehicle entry of Zaraw Vehicle Works,
featuring an uncommon dual gun design for its main weapon.
Capabilities:
The Picador is built around its dual Class 5 Imperator Autocannons. The weapons allow the
Picador to "lance" a target from far ranges, less as a sniper and more like a constant
long-range drumming, as the tank has enough armor protection to survive a direct hit from a
Class-20 AC in every facing.
Despite this, the Picador wasn't designed to do a stand-up fight against opponents. Instead,
it really is for digging in somewhere far from a target and pinging it at range with its
autocannons, moving away at flank speed when necessary.
The Picador is also designed to work in tandem with other Zaraw designs, specifically the
Cragstone and the Musang, with the former vehicle providing additional fire at range while
its infantry provides cover at short ranges while the Picador repositions, and the latter
vehicle acts as the tank's eyes and ears for striking a target at range.
Deployment:
Like many of the Zaraw designs, the Picador was meant to replace ACDF losses during the Liao
Incursion and concurrent Taurian invasion of late 3029. The first units were turned over to
their assigned commands around mid 3031, just in time for Auriga's participation in the
Andurien = Canopus invasion of the Capellan Confederation.
