Overview:
Named after Restoration War commander, the Cragstone Missile Tank was one of the first
homegrown military vehicles designed and built within the Aurigan Coalition after the
Restoration.
It is meant to be a cheap but rugged vehicle, built with readily-available materials and
equipment, but still capable of supporting ACDF military operations based on the doctrines
put forward by Carlios Dan Cannar and Alexander Madeira.
Capabilities:
Daniel Cragstone was a retired AFFS officer who joined the Restoration War right after the
events in Weldry, bringing his experience in mechanized warfare to the fledgling Restoration
army. He died in the Culling of Smithon, defending the citizens of the planet against the
massacres perpetrated by the Taurian Concordat forces.
The tank that now bears his name reflects many of Cragstone's philosophies. Three LR5 racks
mounted on the turret provide low-cost but effective offensive capabilities whether the tank
is acting as support or as a line unit. The coaxial machinegun provides protection versus
infantry.
Each Cragstone is equipped to carry a squad of Foot infantry. A squad of Cragstones,
therefore, can carry an entire infantry platoon. ACDF formations that use the Cragstone
operate it as such.
While not heavily armored, what the Cragstone has allows it to withstand even a direct hit
from a Class 20 autocannon on three of its sides, providing adequate protection. The tank is
also fast enough to keep up with Auriga's mech forces, whether on a tactical or strategic
level.
Deployment:
Built by the recently-founded Zaraw Vehicle Works at a newly-opened plant in Mechdur, the
Zaraw is a proudly homegrown combat vehicle now entering widespread service into the
reorganized Aurigan Coalition Defense Force, especially among the Front Force CABs, given
their design as rapid-response units.
Aside from acting as a support vehicle to ACDF mech forces, the Cragstone is meant to be an
affordable military vehicle for general use throughout the Coalition. At just shy of half a
million C-Bills, a large number of Cragstones can be bought instead of mechs, at the same
time supplementing any infantry formation available.
