Overview:
Created as a "sister chassis" to the Hræsvelgr, the Lammergeier is an opportunistic hunter
built to catch unsuspecting enemies with volleys of long range fire. Its production was
kickstarted by taking heavy inspiration from what seemed to be a destroyed 'Mech prototype
that was uncovered by the Laughing Vultures on Angell II; while the data they recovered
showed extensive design flaws, like the misaligned cockpit making ejection exceedingly
difficult, it had enough promise to warrant a second lease on life.
Capabilities:
Equipped with 16.5 tons of Stealth Armor and built on an endo-composite chassis, the
Lammergeier (or Furiae, for the Inner Sphere market) is meant to strike hard from a
favorable angle when its opponents least expect it. While it has received scorn from the
newly reborn Jade Falcons, being a machine that relies on "dirty tricks" to get an
advantage, its usefulness whenever it was deployed alongside their new touman begrudgingly
saw it earn its rightful spot as a headhunter. While expensive due to the use of an armored
cockpit and a compact gyro, it boasts a decent amount of pod space at 30 tons, meaning it
can use several different loadouts effectively and giving enterprising Mechwarriors ample
room for experimentation. The fixed partial wing system makes its mission profile obvious,
but the decision to not mount jump jets directly onto the chassis was heavily pushed by the
chief engineer from D&K Creation Studios in charge of the project to "maximize tactical
flexibility, and because that shit is stupid".
Deployment:
This is the BASE chassis, go forth and don't look back.
Variants:
Created with the intention to be a Lance or Star based sniper, the Furiae F configuration is
based around, simply put "What if the Prime, but more focused on sniping and less on being
an utter devil of a skirmisher". In that regard, it explains the C3 slave and the Bloodhound
active probe mounted in the center torso, as well as its primary weapons of twin ER Large
Lasers in the side torso, and a Hyper-Assault Gauss 20 in the right arm that is fed with two
tons of ammunition. To allow the machine to get into prime sniping spots and to take
advantage of its partial wings, four jump jets are added to the chassis, while to try and
keep the stealth armor and large lasers cool, three more double heat sinks for a total of
sixteen are mounted across the chassis. Finally, to let the pilot either pick up mission
critical objective should they come across them, or punch their way out of a problem, the
hand and lower arm actuators of the left arm are mounted.
