Overview:
After the capture of Arc Royal in 3146, the Jade Falcons' attention was brought to the
chassis prepared for Project Rhodes when the Lyrans launched Operation LARCENER to take the
schematics & units already in existence. The two that the Commonwealth could not take back
would be shipped to Sudeten for reverse-engineering - however, with no support from the
Hell's Horses and no Conversison Gear units to reverse engineer, the end result would be a
standard quadruped 'Mech instead of a QuadVee.
Named after the Lyran project's codename, the Rhodes IIC has some noted differences from
what would become the Hardshot beyond the lack of transformation. The cockpit was moved to
the torso so the head could serve as a turret, and the fusion engine is a stronger Clan XL
model.
Capabilities:
The basis of the Rhodes IIC is the reverse-engineered IS-grade Olivetti/Arc 14x EC
Endo-Composite chassis, which supports a Clantech Consolidated 400 XL engine and 22 tons of
Compound Gamma FL Ferro-Lamellor armor. The 'Mech's comms system is a JNE Integrated Mk II
unit, while targeting and tracking are provided by a JFIX/Olivetti Pinpoint Advanced TTS.
All of the Rhodes IIC's weapons are Clantech. A Head Turret is installed in the center torso
as to support 2 Type DDS "Kingston" ER PPCs, allowing a long-range punch in any direction.
The torso also has fixed weapons for close-range in the form of two Series 14a Medium Pulse
Lasers and two Series 4c Small Pulse Lasers. Waste heat generation is kept reasonable by 18
Clan Double Heat Sinks, though sustained firing of all weapons will create a risk of a
shutdown.
As an all-energy brawler with a heavy amount of armor, the Rhodes IIC is already making a
name for itself as taking an absurd amount of punishment to bring down.
