Overview:
    The Tanto is a Light BattleMech designed by Luthien Armor Works at the behest of the
    Draconis Combine in order to test the experimental Improved One-Shot System as applied to
    medium-range-missiles. To this end the company created a platform that is designed as a
    light skirmisher, with good armor and speed to make it a small but dangerous combatant.
    While originally limited in production during the Clan Invasion and the Civil War era, it
    would be approved in the final years of the Jihad for mass-production as a light fire
    support option for frontline lances. The 1N2 is a modification of the 1N for this
    mass-production, overhauling the cooling package and adding long-range missiles.

Capabilities:
    The Tanto uses a right shoulder-mounted Lord's Light 2 ER PPC as its primary weapon to pick
    off foes at long to medium range, while as part of its experimental purpose it has one
    jettisonable Shigunga Improved One-Shot MRM 10 launcher on each arm. This disposable
    launcher is made as cheap as possible for the experimental tech, and would be made cheaper
    as the technology was refined and costs went down. The late Jihad would see it become cheap
    enough for mass production as an easily-replaceable module that could be changed out easily
    after expenditure, which would be the main factor in the Draconis Combine approving mass
    production in 3079. For the 1N2 specifically it swaps out the Heat Sinks for a
    near-equivalent double amount as well as adding a LRM-5 with 2.5 tons of ammunition and
    CASE.
    
    It has four Icarus 81 Jump Jets, and is protected by New Samarkand Royal Ferro-Fibrous
    armor. It also has reinforced fists for emergency melee combat in the event the disposable
    MRM-10s don't do the job.
