Overview:
Although the Hellbringer has long been a proven and relatively well thought of design in the
touman of Clan Hell’s Horses, and the Balius was a speedy design, and they had models
common to most clans, Clan Hell’s Horses leadership found that they desired a heavy
cavalry OmniMech design they could call their own. However, they did not want to waste the
resources designing one from scratch. Therefore, they looked to extant designs that could be
tweaked to match what they wanted.
Not wanting a machine quite as heavy and resource intensive as the Timber Wolf, clan
scientist and technicians soon found themselves reviewing the design schematics for Clan
Smoke Jaguar’s Ebon Jaguar. Discussions with the Clan’s warrior caste determined that
this war machine had long found favor with the clan except for its light leg armor and
tendency for several of the standard configurations to be oversinked and sometimes lacking
in firepower.
Knowing they could relatively easily address these issues, soon a new heavy OmniMech, the
fearsome Dullahan, began deployment amongst the ranks of Clan Hell’s Horses. Named for the
headless horseman/coachman in ancient Irish myth, who rides or leads a team of black horses,
the name seems oddly appropriate both due to the appearance of the machine and as a tribute
to the original progenitor’s name. In fact, the design has such a direct lineage to the
original predecessor that other forces initially named the design the Ebon Jaguar II or the
Cauldron-Born II.
Capabilities:
Keeping the Ebon Jaguar’s original speed and overall look, the Clan scientists first
stripped off the extra heat sinks from this parent design and used one-third of that saved
tonnage to increase the armor on the frame. This extra ton of armor was mostly allocated to
the limbs of the machine, maximizing coverage on the arms and increasing armor thickness on
the legs by more than 25%, providing the machine the ability to a absorb a hit from the
heaviest autocannon on any limb without going internal.
The remaining freed mass was added to the pod tonnage, giving the design the capability to
carry almost half its mass, a full 32 tons, in weapons and other equipment. Although most of
the current configurations mount extra double heat sinks from this tonnage, all of these
configurations actually require the extra heat sinks’ capacity.
Knowing that clan Ristars and other unit leaders would likely desire one of these OkniMechs,
careful thought was put into its targeting and especially is communications systems,
ensuring they were some of the best available to the clan. In addition, they looked to
improve the ruggedness of the overall design to go along with its low profile in an attempt
to minimize time spent in a hanger bay undergoing maintenance. (Quirks: Improved

Deployment:
Deployment of the Dullahan has begun, with priority being given to Cavalry and Strike
Clusters. Knowing they would want many of this new design, a new construction facility was
built on Svarstaad.
