Overview:
The Hovermouse Light Utility Hovercraft was built back in the heydays of the Star League. It
was used as a fast liaison hover and light transport in almost all armor and infantry
regiments.
Capabilities:
The Hovermouse was fast, and almost nothing else. Its half ton of cargo space was used to
ferry small special goods and personnel between combat units. With only minimal armor the
small hover relied on speed to survive.
With its flotation hull it was able to deliver its cargo even to naval units.
An unusual feature for this weaponless vehicle was the BlazeFire Sight Lock targeting &
tracking system. Originally designed as the Hovermouse Fast Attack Hovercraft it carried a
single small laser. It was devised to use its superior speed to attack enemies from the
rear.
But combat trials soon showed that even for a 'back biter' its armor and firepower was much
too insufficient. Already produced en masse the small lasers were removed but removing the
T&T-system turned out to be overly complicated often damaging the components beyond repair.
So almost all units retained their systems.
Deployment:
Almost every regiment of the SLDF had one or two of these. After the dissolving of the Star
League they ended up almost everywhere.
At the end of the 3rd Succession War most were stripped for their fusion engines.
Variants:
Only a handfull of the original Hovermouse equipped with a small laser may still exist. Some
swapped the laser for other equipment like a recon camera or a rearfiring vehicular grenade
launcher filled with smoke grenades and 250 kg of cargo.
Most were later stripped of their fusion engines and either scrapped or equipped with a
45-rated ICE wich reduced the speed by 13% but freed up another half ton of cargo/equipment.
