Overview:
Another legacy of the Federated Commonwealth era, the license for the Chameleon
training mech were acquired by General Motors from J. B. BattleMechs after the latter
purchased the design outright from Defiance Industries, in exchange for a fifty-year
non-compete agreement to allow the then-startup to find its feet. Following the Jihad and J.
B.'s dissolution due to its Blakeist affiliation, GM considered the non-compete agreement
void, and the release of combat versions of the training mech precipitated its selection for
the MUSE WHITE program.
The MUSE WHITE design was chosen as the lightest option for carrying the large C³ master
computer needed to manage a lance, and envisioned as serving as a “pack leader” for the
lighter components of the program. Like the other parts of MUSE WHITE, the CLN-90D did not
last especially long, with production halting by the turn of the century and the design
officially extinct by 3125. The production line, however, did, being retooled to produce the
standard training-mech model for the AFFS rather than decommissioned outright.

Weapons & Equipment
The CLN-90D mounted only two weapons, one in each arm, as the remainder of its mass was
consumed by the design's electronics package. The right arm carried an ExoStar Precipice
large X-Pulse laser as the primary weapon, while an ExoStar Genesis medium Re-Engineered
laser prototype was testbedded as a backup weapon—while ExoStar would not have issues with
supplying these weapons, performance fell short, and the weapon proved quite temperamental
in practice.
The rest of the machine’s equipment load was devoted to its electronics package, featuring
the usual MUSE WHITE backseat, an Angel ECM system, and a C³ master computer to link the
unit into a battle-network.
A 250 rated extra light engine provided adequate speed for its role, supplemented by
Andersen Propulsion 398 jump jets in the legs which allowed up to 120 meters of distance at
a jump. seven and a half tons of advanced Valiant Plate heavy ferro-fibrous armor on the
Hollis Mark II reinforced frame made the CLN-90D very tough for its size, while ten double
heat sinks kept the machine cool.
The CLN-90D possesses the Difficult to Maintain (R-E ML), Non-Standard Parts (R-E ML),
Inaccurate Weapon (R-E ML), Poor Cooling Jacket (R-E ML) and Extinct (3125) Design
Quirks.
