This could have been a fast, well armed and acceptably armored 3025 scout but by installing small pulse lasers instead of medium´s they made it a acceptably fast and armored but woefully undergunned 3055 target mech. If it comes close enough to really use that pulse bonus it would be toasted due to the weak armor, that isn’t intendet for close combat, and the other way round isn´t able to deliver significant damage.

Good idea, poor implementation.
It's fast without using an XL engine.
But it's lightly armoured and the choice of weaponry is just outright crazy. THere are infantry units that can outrange the Dart... |

Boy this thing is getting a lot of bad press.
Yep, 3 ML would have been better. SPLs kinda suck.
Yep, the armor could've been ferro. Plenty of room on the chassis, and the extra 7 points of armor do matter.
Still, this isn't such a horrible design. 9/14 speed is amazing. It can literally chase down most Mechs in the game, or at least keep up with them. That's important since you're pretty much going to have to be on their lip to use your weapons. The SPLs are well placed on fast designs, where the odds are high that you'll get it in range. At point blank range, you'll even be nullfying some of your target's speed.
You've got your hands free for some punches, whose additional 3 points of damage per punch are preferred over a 5 point kick since you really don't want to miss a kick and then fall in this one.
While the armor is pititful, the fact is that you can rip an arm and a sidetorso off without really affecting the function of this Mech. Not much of a compliment, but significant.
So, room for improvement, not the best out there, but I'd be willing to face most other Lights in the game in one of these, expecting to win or at least n even fight. |

This is good for one thing, and one thing only; taking a gauss slug through the center torso.
It's kind of a shame, because if this carried medium lasers and upgraded to ferro-fibrous armor it would actually be pretty good. |

Give this design 3 standard medium lasers and you've got a better design... heck mount a Support Infantry Zues Gauss rifle in the cockpit to give him some hope of killing infantry.
This mech is too outdated in this time period to survive... Maybe in 3025 would it have a hope. |
