This turns the Hatamoto into a normal (even if heavily armored) longrange support mech and not even a very powerful one.
If they had reduced that huge ammo bins to put on a few more heatsinks so it could fire the PPC´s more frequently it would be useful though. |

I don't think that this is an upgrade. Instead of two racks of dedicated close range crit-seeking missiles you get a pair of ranged annoyance dispensers with way too much ammo. Maybe it was built out of a particularly insidious Charger that wanted to goad the enemy to come for the kicks and punches rather than trying to chase them around the battlefield. Still mediocre at best. |

I don't know what the thoughts were here, but this is definitely a DOWNGRADE of a nice mech. I mean c'mon, both the -Chi and -Hi versions are far better. And it just bothers me more since this mech has such a cool name. Oh well, I'd rather face this than its better brother because I can kill it with a Locust :) |

Take a mech that had too many long range weapons and not enough close range.
Now do the logical thing of removing all its in close weaponry and strapping on more long range guns.
You still following me? Didn't think so.
Large minimum ranges leave you meat for anyone in a scout mech with the balls to close. |

This thing seems like a loss, rather than anything else. The SRMs worked to cover the minimum range of the PPCs. LRMs dont work, in that reguard, meaning that this mech is nearly defenseless at close ranges. Using this mech as fire support doesnt make much sense, as LRM 5's arent the best support weapons. Also, people tend to target fire support mechs for immediate destruction, and with the minimum ranges on all of its weapons, this mech cant withstand a determined attack. |
