Overview:
The Pegasus is a popular recon unit due to its good speed, decent armor, and respectable
firepower coupled with a reputation for sturdiness and reliability. The Pegasus Scout
Hovertank was first developed by the Exeter Organization based on Keystone in the Free
Worlds League and was introduced during the early years of the First Succession War as unit
reconnaissance platform mounting offensive weaponry and sufficient armor to sustain
significant damage. Following a licensing agreement with Red Devil Industries on Pandora, it
can be found in nearly every major military organization.
It was these features that lead the AFFC as part of their Mechanized Cavalry Initiative to
select the Pegasus as one out of a dozen designs to investigate for re-engineering.
Eventually Red Devil Industries won the contract to re-engineer the Pegasus with omni
technology. The designers took the opportunity to incorporate several pieces of recovered
Star League technology, such as a combat rated fuel cell engine and cellular ammunition
storage equipment. In addition to obtaining more power out of the engine, the designers
also moved and hard mounted the axial mounted laser into the turret. These upgrades
provides the Pegasus Omni with 7.5 tons of pod space.
