Overview:
The Scorpion is an unusual design that has few proponents. When the last factory to produce
it was destroyed in the Second Succession War, no company stepped forward to keep the design
alive. Since then, the number of Scorpions has dwindled further with each new war.
The root of the 'Mechs unpopularity is its four-legged design. This gives the
MechWarrior a rough ride, requires sophisticated gyros, and limits the weaponry that the
Scorpion can carry.
With so few Scorpions still in fighting form, there is no need for a standard
modification kit to incorporate recovered technology into the design. Several
owner-operators have refused to concede the Scorpion's inferiority, exchanging the
antiquated Anderson Armaments Particle Cannon PPC 12 for the commonly available new Magna
Firestar Extended-Range Particle Projection Cannon.

This mech isn´t able to fire its main weapon without slowing down! But speed is vital to a mech thats as poorly armored as this. While the old -1N was able to fire its PPC twice at max speed without reduction in speed this one is next to useless without that DHS´s.

seriously they forgot about something when they installed an ER PPC on a 'Mech with 10 standard heat sinks. The armor wasn't touched at all and now they gave it some range only to half the cadence. No, they totally botched this.

Every time this fires it's main weapon it drops to 5/8! It would be better just to downgrade the engine (plenty of Core Tek 275's lying around from Griffin and Wolverine upgrades) and use the remaining tonnage for heat sinks and armor. Or, just do the rational thing and add DHS and FF armor.
This would lose to the 1-N version most of the time- not good for an "upgrade". If the SRM's were torpedos, however, this might make a decent underwater comabtant.
