A good upgrade for the old -6M.
The weight saved by the ES is used to increase its survivability by adding CASE and some armor (while making it FF).
This mech is able to use much more of its firepower due to the DHS´s and its shortrange firepower is a bit stronger with that Streaks.
But still i think 100 shots for two launchers are way too much, especially for Streaks. |

Finally something that I would call upgrade. Heat problems are gone, armor is thicker and there is no XL engine, so the CASE lends the 'Mech additional survivability. I would like to have more ammo for the LRMs, but that should be easy to get because two tons of SRMs aren't needed. The excessive amount of ammo is a relict from the times when infernos were available for streaks, but now it should be removed. Otherwise it's a reliable machine, not a powerful one, but it can get the job done. |

My biggest complaint is that it can't fire enough missiles to be a proper missile support mech in a company engagement.
On the other hand as part of a raider medium lance (if you replace that SSRM ton with LRM ammo) you can have some good success against all lights, all mediums and the odd heavy.
Like it says in the fluff its a poor man's archer thats a little faster. Perfect for the money though. |

The only flaws here are the ammo mix and the lightish armor. A third ton of LRM ammo would serve better than a second ton of SSRM ammo.
This is a medium fire support 'Mech, and it works almost flawlessly in that role, especially when only against 'Mechs in its weight class. Against heavier targets it lacks firepower. But its speed and firepower make it excellent as fire support for a medium lance.

I like the Dervish despite many people's disparaging remarks about it. In a medium lance vs medium lance duel its an excellent support mech. Even in a campaign setting it works well enough. However, due to its support role I also feel it should have the extra ton of SSRM-2 Ammo removed for another ton of LRM Ammo. |
