Overview:
Its been said that a protomech could accurately mimic the capabilities of an old style Wasp
or Stinger. The Vespoid was created to achieve that goal.
Capabilities:
In a slightly unexpected twist, a late model Stinger could be faithfully emulated. The 3P
uses a light PPC. The Protomech version goes with an ER Medium Laser. Range drops a bit,
firepower goes up.
The real problems start with fighting off the hordes of lawyers who are going to be upset
about another ER Medium carrying jumping protomech being introduced.
Deployment:
Despite being formally designed, and that battle history to consider, there are no plans to
actually produce Vespoids. Their mobility or firepower is below the thresholds useful in
modern combat.
Variants:
Just how many Wasps and Stingers are there? The modern ones built or rebuilt to keep up
with modern combat are likely out of reach, but even now the majority of the ones in use are
based on star league era models.
