Overview:
Nimakachi Fusion Products Ltd., the sole producer of the Spider, has recently announced
plans to upgrade the 'Mech with recovered Star League-era technology. The Free Worlds
League is the primary customer for Nimakachi's limited production of the Spider, but House
Marik has indicated no intention of increasing the number of Spiders in its service. As it
would be economic folly for the firm to retool its factories simply to produce sixteen or so
'Mechs per year, it is likely that one or more of the other Great Houses or mercenary units
have placed orders with Nimakachi for the upgraded version.
The new SDR-7M Spider will incorporate an endo steel internal structure and
ferro-fibrous armor to provide comparable protection at less weight. This change will allow
Nimakachi to replace the original Spider's two medium lasers with new Tronel XII medium
pulse lasers. For the price of slightly less armor protection, the new Spider will greatly
improve its firepower.
With improved firepower added to its excellent speed and jumping ability, the SDR-7M
Spider will have more uses and thus greater appeal to all the Inner Sphere's armed forces.
House Marik's good relations with House Kurita and the Draconis Combine's relative shortage
of factories for light 'Mechs make it likely that Gunji no Kanrei Theodore Kurita is the
motivating force behind the new design.

Still highly mobile, lightly armed and armored, but I'm not sure whether the pulse lasers were a good investment. You have to move close to the enemy to hit and thus you allow them to gave good aim as well. Try to move a lot and if there is an obstacle that you can use for hiding then do so as much as you can. Watch your heat, the pulse lasers can overheat the Spider quickly. Good for making surprise attacks and sneaking around the enemy, but It should avoid heavy combat.

I´m a great fan of the original -5V and this isn´t bad too.
It looses 2 points of armor but the thin skin of the Spider had never bothered me.
The weapons are a good choice for its fighting style but DHS would have been a must here for the Spider has to jump!!

Double heat sink this mech and you've all of a sudden got something that moves fast enough to mug just about anyone in the city.
course your relying on high modifiers to save your ass but what good pilot doesn't min that as a scout. The standard engine helps the thin armour go farther than you'd expect.
The two medium pulses are an absolute joy to work with since this mech moves fast enough to utilize them often.
A scout mech that needs a fast lance to shine.

Other than needing DHS to be able to jump and shoot same turn, this is a great upgrade to the Spider. I use it often. The medium pulse lasers are deadly in the close range of city combat.

Swap out the standard heat sinks for doubles, and if you have room, trade up the engine to XL and add more armor. As is, the mech cant jump and shoot like it should be able to. Still, in a built up environment, this thing is going to be damn anoying, and tough to pin down. Use it to your advantage.
