The primary configuration may not be the most dangerous one, but in light of its slow speed and abysmal armour (which means that any limb or side torso will be cleanly amputated by a 15+ damage weapon), it is probably the one fitting the chassis best. It can certainly hurt an enemy – an alpha strike will do an average of 24 damage. More importantly, the two main weapons have a respective range of 25 and 24, more than even the average long range weapons (and any weapons dealing those deadly 15-point impacts). The SPL has become more useful recently, but then again: why would this dedicated sniper ever come close to infantry? The configuration is not optimal, but it will not be high on the enemy’s kill priority, either. I would recommend this configuration for most Kit Fox pilots.

A light that designs itself like a medium. Quite well armed but the armor is a little thin. The Prime is a good mix of long and short range weapons. It is quite cool running, able to alpha without a worry while walking. I would drop the small pulse for a er medium, it loses some points to heat but the greater range and damage makes it better than the rarely used small pulse.

Basic Kit Fox chassis isn't well armored or exceptionally fast, but it can carry an impressive mix of weapons. The fact is that you need to think carefully what you put on it, because it can't withstand too much and any mistakes will hurt you. The Kit Fox is versatile, but lacks any specialization (more than it's usual with omni), so you can play a lot with the weapons.
The Kit Fox Prime is configured toward sniping. With ER large laser and LB 5-X can reach far and fire can be accurate thanks to cluster rounds, which also provide it with crit. seeking ability. The SRMs will help with battle armor and other conventional forces and with new rules small pulse laser gained the ability to cut down infantry. The result is a good sniper (against the most opponents it can stay out of reach if it has room for maneuvering) with versatile backup. Don't expose yourself too much and you may cause a lot of damage. One of the better things in clan arsenal.

The Prime, the A, and the D are all my choices for this design.
The prime is the least specialized and thus gets the call most days with me. I'd drop the Small Pulse for an ER Medium most missions though.
The LB-X 5 is a decent crit seeker to support the ER Large, and the Streak SRMs are a nice touch to finish off most opponents. Just remember not to close range unless your sure the opponent is hurting.
Remember to work the long ranges and keep the modifiers up against most opponents due to its thin armour.

Nicely paired off weapons, the Large laser does the damage and the AC crit seeks, while in close the Large laser again punches while both the small pulse and the SSRM crit seek.
