Bang away with LRMs (YAY Artemis!!) at long range until ammo is low, then come in and crit hunt with the rest of the guns. Used skillfully this is a dangerous mech. Have I mentioned I love LB 10-X ACs? |

Firepower is not that great but this is the mech that is your quintessential Jack of all trades, flexible enough for most situations.
It does carry quite a fair bit of LRM ammo and the LRMs come with Artemis to boot ! So feel generous on expending those. However, you probably don't need that much MG ammo. Maybe 3 mgs + 1/2 ton of ammo ?
Armor is not that solid but I have seen mechs with worse armor. Overall a decent ride. |

This is a solid choice. The armor is a little light, especially with an XL engine, but this mech can still take a shot of two from AC20's. The speed is all right for a heavy mech and heat isn't a problem. The weapons are good for every range and this mech excels at crit hunting. I actually like the machine guns because they have no heat and can be used with the LBX to sand off armor and crit hunt. The mediums and medium pulses are good back up weapons and can let you fight when your ammo runs out. The LRM's can keep shooting for a while, but I'd still try to get in close with this mech. The only thing I don't like about this mech is the CASE. If enough damage is done to destroy a side torso, this mech is dead anyways. I guess it lets you salvage this mech, but I'd rather have an extra ton of armor than the CASE, since with an extra ton of armor you might not even need the CASE. This is a solid line mech that should be able to deal with IS heavies and a few IS assaults, but don't take it up against the Clans. |

The base chassis is not bad. It has no ES to get a lot of space for mounting pods, the XL is fairly standard to get the needed pod weight and it has good armor.
I personally like fixed (useful) equipment on an omni because they give it some character and those medium lasers aren´t bad on any configuration.
Nothing special so far.
This mix of pods is a real multi purpose configuration with good firepower. You can argue about the MG´s but 2D6 of damage per gun against infantry is hard to beat!
The LB-X / LRM combination gives it fair firepower at longrange while the pulse lasers are fine to keep fast lights under control. |

Nothing great here, but no major flaws. I don't see the point of CASEing an XL engine; and double CASEing it to boot. I guess it's nice to salvage that expensive Omni after it loses its engine. I'm not fond of fixed equipment on Omnis, and if those were anything other than medium lasers I'd probably take points off. Acceptable but not great armor; a truly mediocre machine.
This configuration isn't bad. A do anything anywhere config, with strong ammo dependence, but high heat efficiency. Plenty of LRM ammo here, and the Artemis makes it count for more. Hang back a while if you can and wear them down with the LRMs before you close, although the relatively low speed will make that hard. The AC is also rather long ranged, but try to save it till you're in pulse laser range. It's probably not the best idea to have all of your ranged firepower being ammo dependent. And, of course, we need a half ton less MG ammo, and a third MG. Whoever keeps giving dual MGs full tons of ammo needs to be kicked, hard, several times. |
