Overview:
    Conceived in 3058 by the Bombastus League as a demonstration of domestic industrial
    capabilities, the Sledgehammer sets a lofty benchmark of manufacturing advancement.
    Assembled on a Bombastus produced Endo-Steel skeleton at considerable cost in tooling and
    turn around, and propelled to considerable speed for a heavy mech by the highly successful
    VLAR-300 series XL engine, the Sledgehammer is intended to strike and fade, skirmishing at
    the edges of a battlefield. Two ER-PPCs provide excellent long range reach, and the mech has
    the speed to break from combat where it finds itself overwhelmed.

Capabilities:
    While a dangerous mech in the right hands, the Sledgehammer is not quite the flawless
    gold-standard that Bombastus industrial leaders had hoped for. Combat experience highlights
    a number of flaws, noting that the armour protection is deficient for a mech of its weight
    class compared with competing designs, and despite the inclusion of 15 Turbo-Cooler 1b
    double heat sinks the heat burden from the substantial weapons payload is difficult to
    handle effectively. Only a single ton of ammunition is allocated between four SRM-6 packs,
    providing a fearsome but short lived bite, not suitable for long engagements. The inclusion
    of two flamers allows for good defence against infantry ambushes however given the mechs
    role as a long range skirmisher this is an unlikely situation. Clocking in at almost 12M
    C-Bills the design is eye-wateringly expensive to construct and repair, especially in the
    field. That the great majority of its components are produced domestically within the League
    may be one saving grace for the design, which nonetheless continues to roll off of
    production lines on Thalassa.
