Overview:
    Built purely out of desperation and need, this variant of the Fafnir is almost completely
    different from its main and alternative configuration but its role closely resembles its
    intended role as a close ranged assault machine.

Capabilities:
    When the winds of war have finally descended, Defiance Industries on Hesperus II found
    themselve running short on spare parts and advanced weaponary like Gauss Rifles and its
    heavy variants to mount on its flagship design. With heavy Davion bombardments and many
    supplied ships captured or outright destroyed, any effort to manufacture the new high tech
    systems was almost futile.
    
    
    
    With time running out and having at least a company of their flag ship design without any
    weapons, Defiance was forced to go " Out with the New and in with the Old". Immediately,
    Defiance Industries re-opened caches of their old Mechhunter class AC20 autocannons.
    Although badly outdated when compared to the Defiance Thunder UAC20 or the Defiance Shredder
    LB-20X, the MechHunter was easily available and can be constructed with minimal effort and
    cost, should the need arises.
    
    
    
    The entire company was immediately refitted with this old but powerful guns, with each
    Fafnir carrying no less than a pair. Although several younger pilots detest the use of such
    old tech weapons, chuckles can be heard from the older pilots who knew of the Mechhunter's
    excellent reliability and reputation.  6 tons of ammuntion supply the massive cannons.
    
    
    
    The mech's ammuntion lacks CASE protection but beggars cant be choosers and to CASE up ammo
    is a long process. In any case the AC20 takes up lots of space already in the side torso so
    mounting any CASE would be useless in the first place.
    
    
    
    Backing up this powerful old cannons is a pair of Defiance Model XIV ER grade large lasers.
    These lasers provide the machine with much needed long range cover fire until it reaches its
    intended target and tears him into shreds. Finally a pair of rapid fire Medium pulse lasers
    round out the weapon's array allowing the monster to add on to the short range barrage.
    However there are supposely some flaws with the laser weapons as these never made it through
    the QC. But given Defiance Industries tradition of excellent products and very stringent QC,
    the flaws should be small enough to be lived with.
    
    
    
    To cover the heat mostly generated by the ER Large lasers, Defiance mounts exactly 13 double
    strength freezers to allow the mech to fire its ERLarge lasers while running. The reason is
    to avoid wastage and Defiance can only afford so many per mech.
    
    
    
    Although the lack of CASE and somewhat flawed weapons might rattle some younger pilots,
    Defiance assures them that the mech's incredible protection will see them through long
    enough to expend the ammo.
    
    
    
    Another even lower tech variant features dual Donal PPCs instead and has no medium pulse
    lasers. 2 double heatsinks were removed and were replaced with 2 old Defiance B3M medium
    lasers instead. Clearly a sign of real desperation.

Deployment:
    With great fear of being attacked directly on Hesperus II itself, Defiance Industries has
    being rumored to have secretly kept half a dozen of these mechs for its own personal use
    despite being ordered to send as many mechs as possible to Tharkad. A choice that proven to
    be wise.
    
    
    
    Details were sketchy on how a medium mech lance actually penetrated the deep mountain ranges
    on Hesperus II. As luck would have it, a lance of mediums mechs backed by a single Fafnir.
    Having spotted the enemies first, the Fafnir pilot promptly opened fire with its long ranged
    weapons without alerting his slightly further off allies. It has being concluded that the
    raiders thought the Fafnir was the dual longer ranged Gauss rifle variant and tried to get
    close.
    
    
    
    A mistake that prove to cost them dear. It was said the Fafnir destroyed at least 2 while
    the rest of the raiders tried to make a run for it but were quickly put down by the rest of
    the medium lance who found their powered down mechs later.
