Overview:
One of the most unusual things Smoke Jaguars left in their databases was complete design
documentation of medium omni, that was about to enter production in 3063. The design
development was terminated by destruction of the clan, but two copies of design
specifications and plans survived and after short, but fierce trials they fell in the hands
of clans Steel Viper and Hells Horses.
The basic chassis seems to be made for fierce fighting and straightforward approach to
combat common among the Jaguar warriors. Almost full armor, good speed and heat dissipation
make it similar to popular Storm Crow, but it's cheaper thanks to smaller size. The chassis
seems to bear some resemblance to Stooping Hawk, but instead of bird like features there are
feline.
Capabilities:
Battery of ER medium lasers and ER PPC give Lion prime solid medium range firepower and
streak SRMs provide solid backup to the energy weapons. Pilots should be careful with all
the weapons, because alpha-strike can overwhelm the heat-sinks quickly.
Deployment:
There are no confirmed reports, but both clans are expected field prototypes soon.

As far as the base is concerned, I like this design. TRO3050U paints a complete picture of the Jaguars as a Clan that may have been poor on resources but was definitely keen on always fielding the best of cutting-edge designs amongst the Clans. Thus this one would make sense as a compatible partner to one of their proven designs.
An omni is only as good as its configurations, though. I am not fond of the primary variant, though. It isn't that it runs very hot (SSRMs tend to make heat manageable), but the weapons constellation simply does not cater to personal preference.

This is a good configuration of an okay mech, but why was it even built. This is essentially the Stromcrow with .5 tons more pod space and one ton less armor. Why would the Smoke Jaguars ever build a near clone of their favorite mech? Loses points for me.
The targeting computer makes this interesting- it can snipe at range or close and try to target a single location. Once a single hole has been made, the Streaks are perfect, and overheat isn't bad. Without the
TC, this mech would be a lot weaker. This would be a decent Stormcrow configuration- I don't know why anyone would need to build a new mech to do this.

I do not see real flaws with this design. Exellent speed and armor.
Good weapon mix for almost all ranges.With 13 DHS you are able to fire 2 ERML along with your PPC at medium ranges up to 15 hexes. At close range look at your enemy: Are there already holes in his armor: fire more Streaks than ERML! Otherwise fire more ERML than Streaks!

I scratch my head over this one. Close ranged weapons is 31 with a run. Long range is 17 with a run.
Funny thing the number of heat sinks is no where near either number. So either your 3 short or completely need to redesign the weapons to work with just the basic number.
Although this is clan tech and being inefficent usually doesn't get you killed because you have the god weapons. I'd swear this thing has more armour than many other 55,60 ton OMNI clan designs as well which is a nice point.
The light active probe interests me, but why is it there? I'd like an explanation. Usually, I like the full probe, the light gear is usually just a waste of time.
Basically you have a damage out put of around 45 without producing any heat. At the same time if you over heat by 5 your commiting yourself in a clan battle. Too many clan machines find 5/8 too easy to keep up with, which means you'll have lost your speed edge.
The targeting computer is nice... but most clan mech warriors believe they are a crutch, and Smoked Jaguars weren't exactly known for being anything but bigoted and very agressive.
For them to design a new OMNI with a tar-comp I'd be suprised. It'd fit the innovators (Diamond Shark, Burrock) or the ones most worried about the best survival rates (Blood Spirits, Ghost Bear, Snow Raven, Hells Horses).
As for an unknown omni in any PGC. Heck in a clan battle before hand you TRANSMIT to your opponent designations and pilots of all machines. So they'd immeaditly know you had a "Lion" which will be another trial you fight because every clan wants new toys.
Its an average mech with too many flaws really to score well.
