Overview:
    The Shogun was designed by Luthien Armor works to rectify the flaws in the design of the
    Tai-sho, with the intention of replacing it as the DCMS's primary command 'Mech for C3
    assault companies. While the Tai-sho was a good first attempt, its light weight and armament
    made it less capable of standing up to the type of damage an Atlas or Akuma is expected to
    survive. This often created a situation where the command 'Mech would be one of the first to
    fall, weakening the unit's coordination and making them more likely to take heavy losses or
    fail completely in their mission.

Capabilities:
    The SHG-2CM is intended to be the final production model of the Shogun. 2CM is based on
    recommendations made during the testing phase. This has been rather a surprise to everyone
    involved, from engineer to MechWarrior, since more than one BattleMech class has entered
    full production with major flaws.
    
    
    
    During the testing phase, commanders tended to be impressed with the Shogun's capabilities.
    Strong armor, jumping capability, good long range weapons, and more than sufficient heat
    sinks all made the Shogun a very attractive machine. The only complaint was that the
    Shogun's secondary armament was grossly insufficient for a 'Mech of its size. As this was
    the only major design criticism, it was hard for the designers to overlook it.
    
    
    
    Accordingly, the design was changed. The Shogun lost the ER and pulse lasers, along with
    nearly half of its additional heat sinks. In return, it gained a staggering ten medium
    lasers, while still possessing sufficient heat sinks to fire them. With ten medium lasers,
    few MechWarriors can complain of being insufficiently armed. With the reduction in heat
    sinks, designers also found the space to reinstall the Shogun's hand actuators; unlike the
    Tai-sho, the Shogun had been designed from the start with hand actuators, but they were
    removed to create room for the Shogun's extra heat sinks. The re-addition of hands should
    make the Shogun more versatile, as well as making it more capable in physical combat, should
    the need arise.

Deployment:
    Shoguns were initially deployed to the Sword of Light and Ghost regiments for evaluation.
    They will receive the first production models, sending their own back to Luthien for refit.
    When other units might get the Shogun depends on a particular unit's standing in the
    equipment hierarchy of the DCMS.
