Overview:
Designed by the staff at Achernar Battlemechs as a new light scout to replace the ancient
Locust, the Poirot never became very popular, mostly because the Locust was so firmly
entrenched.
Capabilities:
Despite the design's unpopularity, the Poirot is actually quite capable. With a top speed
over 118 KPH, and a jumping distance of 120 meters, the 'mech is certainly agile enough to
outmaneuver most other scouts it may find. With a Bical Missile Launcher and Harmon
Starclass Laser as its primary armaments, the Poirot is generally able to outfight its
opponents as well. To help protect the 'mech from infantry, as well as lay down a screen to
cover its own retreat, the Poirot is equipped with a single Zippo Flamer.

Good design. Nothing excellent about this mech, but also nothing seriously wrong. I'm not sure, if this will replace Locust anywhere except in rough terrain.

I was supportive of this design in the forums, and I want to to confirm my stance here and now.
If this design is seen in the right context, as an alternative to the Locust and not the Jenner, it really shines.
The movement is almost on par. Its weaponry is extremely flexible, moreso than even the Locusts. Neither infantry, vehicles, 'mechs of similar size and even terrain should pose a serious threat. And its short jump movement (to make it worse: an even number! Less than ideal if you reduce it to number-crunching - which is a very one-dimensional thing to do) actually adds a lot of flavour. That jump capability is not there for an offensive purpose, but more to navigate extremely difficult terrain (preferably out of the enemy's LOS) or to quickly get out of that LOS in a tight spot.
In fact, its name is the only quibble I have with this one is its name: Poirot screams "portly snoop" to me, rather than fast scout!!

Full jump, as it stands short of crossing a river or a city fight which your woofully under equipped for, your not going to get far with 7/11/4.
The modifiers are far better for you to run or even walk if the path is relatively clear. So its basically wasted tonnage on a chassis that can't afford it.
The Flamer OR the SRM 2 I could understand but both means your sinking a large amount of tonnage into a very different idea.
I'm also against sticking your only dependable weapon in an arm in a light mech. Because they're too easily blown off.
I'm just not seeing it do all that well even in 3025 against cannon lights.

Definately the poor mans Jenner. The jumping movement is a bit odd though. Decent speed and damage for an old school mech overall though. Compared to the other 25 tonners from its time this is a quite versitle mech.

This strikes me as a Jenner-lite. Compared to it's competition at 20 and 25 tons though it's not bad. I'd probably replace the flamer with a medium laser though and pack infernos in the SRM-2 bay if I needed to start some fires.
