Overview:
    With special permission from Maximilian Liao, Ceres Metals has recently begun work on
    building that dual-PPC Vindicator, which had been discussed in the development process,
    exactly 199 ago. Since hostilities with House Marik had been very heated until the late
    3010s, and House Davion is looking ever threatening, it was decided that more firepower was
    needed. Even at the expense of the Vindicator's versatility!

Capabilities:
    This new Vindicator development, tentatively dubbed Minihammer for the role it is meant to
    play, was designed to bring maximal, direct and long range firepower onto the battlefield.
    For this, the designers placed a second PPC on the chassis. As had been discussed two
    centuries before, that meant the elimination of the hand. And the removal of all secondary
    weaponry, as well as the jump jets. As the heat dissipation capacity was still not
    sufficient, the step was finally taken to upgrade the engine and allow for a greater total
    tonnage.
    
    
    
    The result is a medium battlemech that for all extent and purpose possesses as much long
    range firepower as the vaunted Warhammer. In fact, much of the overall performance is very
    similar to that design. Where the difference in weight shows is the short range armament:
    the Minihammer is defenseless up close and relies on the protection of its lance mates for
    survival.

Deployment:
    Since this design is still in development, no unit has yet to field this design. It is
    expected to enter trial service in 3028, at which time it is sure to give its foes a nasty
    surprise.
    
    
    
    (Historian's note: the first Minihammers reached the front just as the Davion invasion
    signalled the start of the 4th Succession War. The Liao lines were simply flattened in all
    theaters, notwithstanding this new desing. In fact, the Minihammer suffered heavily, not
    because of lack of versatility, but much rather because of the lack of jump jets, which
    often were a Vindicator's last resort! Production was halted after peace had been declared.
    In this new unsteady peace, versatile and nimble 'mechs were much more needed than brute
    strength that would have been futile in the end.)
    
    
    
    (Editor's note: this is one of two designs that I just quickly thought of to demonstrate how
    lifeless a lot of new run-of-the-mill designs could be. I spent ten minutes on the design
    and now ten minutes on the fluff. The actual result should be decent. It is not a joke
    'mech. But it is also not one of my dedicated efforts to create something unique and
    inspiring.)
