Overview:
There are some Clan designs, that do not make sense by any sort of combat doctrine seen in
the Inner Sphere. At times, an incredible amount of resources go towards making machines
that are extremely specialized. They seem to be conceived for arena combat, and while some
of them do well in real combat (like the Goshawk or, to a lesser extent, the Hunchback IIC),
others would be plain wasteful to use. This is one of those designs.
Of course, we now know that the Clans have developed their castes based on trials. Sometimes
these specially made arena 'mechs are used in them in preference of omni-mechs, just because
they can deliver a brutal knock-out punch to a single enemy target. This monstrosity must
have been based off what was once a Blackjack - the much-maligned financial disaster by GM.
The clans took the basic idea, a fire-support 'mech with strong support weaponry, and
expanded on it over centuries. Then with fire support finding itself being disdained by
warriors, it was up-gunned to find its current form, more than twice as heavy and with only
passing semblance to its parent design.
Capabilities:
The Blackjack IIC has been made heavier over the centuries; weighing in at 100 tons, it has
gained added than 120% of its original weight! But neither the armour nor the engine were
developed significantly, meaning that this 'mech is painfully slow and underarmoured. What
was gained, was one of the most brutal punches ever seen in a battlemech. Being able to
deliver it at ranges of over 650 meters means that many opponent in a 'circle of equals'
(the clan equivalent of an arena, for instance) will be disabled before it can fire a shot.
While heat is not a major concern for this design, both the very limited ammunition and the
weak armour mean that in any combat situation featuring multiple foes, it will quickly find
itself neutralised.
Deployment:
This 'mech was only spotted by ComStar representatives on the Clan Homeworlds, where it was
used sporadically in bloodright trials or trials of grievance, by Clans Diamond Shark, Jade
Falcon and Star Adder. These are some of the more prosperous and wealthy Clans, which can
possibly support such a wasteful and expensive design. It has never been seen anywhere in
the Inner Sphere, and the Jaguars also did not field it during their defense of their
homeworlds.
It is possible that the Jade Falcons may use it as a last resort when defending
fortifications which could protect and supply this design, providing that all front-line
elements had already been eliminated by the enemy.

For a trial it may be better to turn this 'Mech to a gauss carrier. Heavy weapons can deal a lot of concentrated damage, but light armor, heat management and XL engine are strange. I'm not sure if the fluff explains the reasons for building the 'Mech sufficiently. This is just another Gausszilla.

Probably not the best modification in the IIC series. Rarely does adding tonnage to a mech mean its been improved.
The speed on this is just shy of abyssmal, ditto the armor.
About the only saving grace is the sheer ammount of damage that this beast can deliver. This is enough firepower to out and out annihilate light mechs, and some mediums, and give heavies and assults reason to look for other targets. The only flaw is the ammo for the gauss rounds. This thing can chew through the slugs kind of fast if you let it. That just leaves the PPCs for this thing to (barely) defend itself with.

I never grew an affection for adding tonnage to a mech. Even the PHX IIC I hated. The weapons load out is horrid, so is the ammo, the overloaded heat sinks, and the lack of armour tied to an XL engine.

eeep.
That's scary. Just plain scary.
The fluff is also good.
It's incredibly ammo dependent, but for a trial, that's probably fine. Its so brutal, a couple of rounds is likely to mean death to the foe.
However, it suffers from one big flaw. Speed.
The way i see it. This is the kind of mech a REALLY desperate clan warrior would use in an attempt to get past say the grand melee.
