Overview:
The NSR-10J Nightstar is another design intended to strengthen the AFFS after the losses of
the FedCom Civil War. The NSR-10J is a redesign of the 9J Nightstar, intended reduce the
machine's cost while still retaining most of its capabilities. The modifications for the 9J
were much more extensive than those of the 9FC because of the 9J's lower speed. The factory
had to be retooled not only for the conversion to a standard engine, but also for the
conversion to an Endo Steel internal structure. Without the Endo Steel, the 10J would not
have enough free tonnage to carry the 9J's armament. Although the use of Endo Steel
increases the machine's cost, the 10J's cost is still less than half that of the 9J.
Capabilities:
The NSR-10J has every capability if the 9J Nightstar. Its primary armament is a pair of
gauss rifles, giving it impressive damage at long range. The gauss rifles are supplemented
by a single ER PPC, giving the Nightstar even greater damage at range, as well as a weapon
not dependent on ammunition. Instead of the two pulse lasers and one small laser of the 9J,
the 10J carries a trio of ER medium lasers to augment its firepower. The 10J also retains
the 9J's impressive ammunition capacity - seven tons of ammunition for its gauss rifles. The
only thing the 10J loses is heat efficiancy; with the loss of the XL engine, the 10J lacks
the tonnage to carry as many heat sinks as its predecessor. Despite this, heavy armor and a
standard engine combine to make the NSR-10J even more popular with MechWarriors than its
predecessor was.
Deployment:
The NSR-10J Nightstar has completely replaced the 9J in production. The 10Js will be
deployed evenly throughout the Federated Suns, beginning with the Royal Brigade and the
Crucis Lancers.

So simple, effective and deadly.
This beats the Maruader II on any day with its volley of long-ranged and low heat weapons. Lots of ammo too.
It's also a good Mech to take against the clans.
Make sure you bring some friends to cover your back (thanks to your low speed) and some EW support.

Again well made remake. By elimination of bulky XL engine this mech gained a lot of durability and lost few unnecessary things. Heat management shouldn't be a problem and ammo load is sufficient for long battles. Speed is just average, but there are only few mechs that can afford to pursue this mech. If there are any flaws than it would be the fact that ES internal structure prevents free exchange of parts with 10 FC :)

Most impressive, now this Nightstar is one tough monster. The ammo is still endless and now the NSR might actually live long enough to deplete em, plus the ERPPC is still there.
for heat sinkage wise, this is still fair. In fact i always thought the original NSRs were oversinked. Now the heatscale is extremely well balanced.
All in all a 5 pointer.
