Overview:
    The Thug variant designated THG-12S is a modification of the THG-12E Earthwerks builds for
    ComStar. The Lyran Alliance came into possession of a lance of THG-12Es after the
    destruction of the Sixty-Sixth Com Guard Division on Tharkad, near the end of the FedCom
    Civil War. All four Thugs were disabled by the destruction of their fusion engines, and so
    Lyran techs were forced to replace them. Instead of putting in the standard fusion engines,
    however, each Thug had a new light fusion engine installed. The light engine freed up
    tonnage for more thorough modifications, resulting in the THG-12S.

Capabilities:
    Like the 12E, the THG-12S's primary armament is a pair of ER PPCs. The 12S uses the tonnage
    saved by the light engine, the removal of the C3i, and the loss of a heat sink to upgrade
    the Thug's SRM 6s to Streak SRM 6s, a significant increase in capability. Another ton of
    ammunition is also included over the 12E's ammo load. Even after these additions, there was
    still a notable amount of tonnage the Thug chassis could carry. This tonnage was used for a
    most unusual upgrade: the addition of jump jets. The Thug chassis handles the jets well
    enough with minimal modification, and they significant;y increase the 'Mech's mobility.
    While not as heat efficient as the 12E, the 12S Thug is quite clearly superior in firepower
    and mobility.

Deployment:
    The four THG-12Ss form a lance in the First Royal Guards. This lance is a part of the
    Archon's command company. The LAAF is currently in negotiations with Earthwerks to obtain
    more THG-12Ss. Although ComStar is making itself troublesome in this process, the contract
    will likely be concluded before 3068.
