Overview:
A truly Ancient design, this RIFL-2n has been in service of the Brown family since the Star
League era. Inside the mechs cockpit on a structural member is a manufacturing plate
showing date of construction in 2740. There are plates on the same support showing the
names and dates of service for each family member that has piloted the mech. Having been
kept in top operating condition due to standard easy to replace parts, the mech is still in
prime operating condition.
Capabilities:
Following the Battle of Tukkayd, "Longshot" was refitted with clan grade weapons heat sinks
and a targeting computer by the Com guards. Now a superior sniper, the mech fills the role
admirably as a support machine.
Deployment:
"Longshot" is currently still assigned to Bandersnath Lance of Demons Cutthroats mercenary
company. The use of primarily standard components and parts still in production since the
beginning of the star league has led to the mechs longevity. Externally the mech now does
resemble a more modern RFL-3N
Variants:
An ancient RFL-2N the mech was ideally suited to an all energy armament, early in its
history, the mech has maintained is utility, but being wisely employed by the mechs pilots
over the years. Switching to DHS, and FFA when it became available, the mech has maintained
these changed over the centuries. In its current form, the mech is clad in Clan Ferro
Fibrous Armor, mounting only 12 clan grade DHS. the weaponry was replaced with a clan pulse
lasers in all its energy mounts, a LPL and MPL in each arm, and a MPL in each side torso,
all tied into a Targeting Computer.
Notable MechWarriors:
Alycia "Satan" Brown was the mech pilot at the time of Tukkayd. A descendent of the
original Bandersnatches mercenary battalion, the family mech was kept in top shape over the
centuries while in service to Comstar. While in her Level II Adept Brown as very good at
providing long range sniper fire on clan mechs, and fighters. The mech had a tendency to
run very hot under her command which led to her Callsign. Following the battle the had
Comstar upgrade her mech with battlefield salvage from several clan second line riflemen on
the battlefield. After mustering out she wen on to join Demons Cutthroats mercenary unit,
and eventually had more work done. In its current from, Longshot serves with "Satans"
granddaughter Jessica still in the Cutthroats and providing enhanced sniping in Bandersnatch
Lance.
