Overview:
    The unique GUN1-ERE began life as a standard Gunslinger in the 6th Donegal Guards. During
    the FedCom Civil War, the 6th was sent to Kentares, where they participated in the execution
    of the ruling Dresari family. When Ian Dresari returned home at the head of an irregular
    'Mech force of ex-AFFC officers and mercenaries, the Gunslinger in question was
    near-destroyed and subsequently salvaged by the new Duke's forces early in the fight. Not
    having an XL engine available but needing an assault 'Mech, Duke Dresari's techs replaced
    the 'Mech's destroyed XL engine with a standard fusion engine. With ammo short, its gauss
    rifles were removed for particle cannons. With the addition of heat sinks and backup pulse
    lasers, the 'Mech was redesignated and put into service to help free Kentares.

Capabilities:
    Two ER PPCs give the GUN1-ERE less punch than its predecessor, but at a slightly longer
    range, and with no minimum range. The medium lasers were removed, and all but one replaced
    with pulse lasers, for their damage and accuracy. The rear mounted medium pulse lasers with
    their cumbersome leg mountings remain, mostly because there was no place else to put them.
    The primary advantage of the GUN1-ERE is longevity. Without ammunition based weapons, the
    'Mech can fight for as long as its weapons function. With a standard engine and more heat
    sinks than are strictly necessary, the ERE can absorb significant damage before going down.

Deployment:
    The GUN1-ERE was given to Leftenant Robert O'Neil after its refit. Leftenant O'Neil was
    commended several times over the course of the Civil War on Kentares, and his 'Mech walked
    away from every fight under its own power. During the Combine reprisal on Kentares, Captain
    O'Neil again fought well; during the last, ritualistic battle in which the Combine regiment
    lined up and was annhilated, he claimed five BattleMech kills. After the war, Brevet Major
    O'Neil asked for and recieved a transfer into the First Robinson Rangers. For his defense of
    a remote school which Loyalist troops had mistakenly targeted as a command center, Duke
    Sandoval personnally awarded O'Neil the Robinson Medal of Valor and (acting as Regent
    Yvonne's proxy) the Diamond Sunburst. Major O'Neil and his Gunslinger continue to serve in
    the Robison Rangers.
